Well it has been a hectic 4 weeks since Christmas. I hope you have all had a fantastic start to 2018! Here at TCCA we have been working ourselves to the bone! 4 of us went off to Narbil Training and completed the Health and Safety Representative course with John Guinea. I was very surprised by the content - mostly about what I did not know when it comes to the responsibilities of PCBU's (Persons Conducting Business or Undertakings)! I really enjoyed the course.
We have been working on our new branding campaign. I am not sure if I have whinged about this yet, but holy moley! When I decided to move the business forward people advised me rebranding was the way to go - I wish they had included a snippet on the cost and amount of work involved! I have been trying to upload my radio ads to this post but think I am going to give up!
I have learnt if you want to keep a secret - don't tell anyone! LOL! Because it is like chinese whispers and every person JUST tells one person.
One thing that has frustrated me this week is a local business who always talks about buying and employing local, standing up at forums question the integrity of businesses not employing locals - AND THEN they bring in out of town training companies without giving the locals a chance. Not even a call to ask or offer the opportunity!
Another quick lesson I learnt this week is not to let yourself be boxed into a corner! I will spend more time prior to going into negotiations to think through the possible eventualities, and document the WIG vs WYG (What I Got VS What You Got). And I believe the trick is to always try and hold a little something back as a negotiating tool or bargaining chip.
One last thing - that I have known for some time - there are not enough hours in one day. If ever I get to renegotiate this deal I will be asking for at least another 6 hours - and the energy to keep going! LOL!
